Cancelli di Reggiolo (FI) 7.6.1861 – Montecatini Terme (Pt) 9.8.1930

Born of Ferdinando, member of an old and noble family, and Caterina Renzi , he entered the seminary of Fiesole and was ordained priest in 1885. He was chaplain of Pieve di Cascia , vicar at Meletto, then parish at Rignano Valdamo, then at Strada and canon of the cathedral of Fiesole. At Strata there as a College of Jesuits , with a little seminary where he taught theology for 15 years. In 1915 he was appointed bishop of Borgo San Donnino on 19 September , he entered the diocese in January 1916, arriving at the station of Borgo. . The great was had blown and the parishes were without priests, called to army; the few priests left worked in the parishes in turns and also the seminary had been seized and transformed in Hospital for the soldiers. Anyway he started the pastoral visit and reinforced the “Azione Cattolica” association. After the war he promoted three Eucharistic Congresses in Borgo (1921) in Busseto (1923) and Monticelli d’Ongina (1924). He accompanied two diocesan pilgrimages to Rome in 1921 and 1929.

He had always a great care of the seminary , balanced its economical situation , introduced new courses and a school for Harmonium. He restored the cryptand gave worthier burials to his predecessors. While he was in Montecatini Terme for a period of treatment he died unexpectedly in the Franciscan guesthouse.

His body was transferred to Fidenza and buried in the crypt of the Cathedral.
