The Findings (Part B) by G. Gregori
The Findings (Part A) by G. Gregori

IVth century – (?) 30 years after San Donnino’s death, the bishop of Parma would have been informed that during some nights a light shone in a place on the bank of Stirone. After a dream about a body of a saint lying on the river bank, the bishop would have ordered to make excavations and a stone would be

discoverd"lapidum mausoleum continentem martirem gloriosum cum caput abscissum et inter ulnas eiusdem martiris positum". Near the body would be found a brick on which these words were written: Ibi conditus est corpus / sancti Domnini Martyris / Christi “ Here is buried the body of San Donnino Martyr of Christ”

Therefore a first “parva Ecclesia” would have been built in that place, as provided by Emperor Costantino’s bill.................................................................

Vth – VII th centuries (?)
The devotion to the martyr would have been so high to force the people to widen the first church, but there were strong doubt about the place where the relics had been found. The priest who kept the church would have been inspired to search the body in “ Medio Ecclesiae”. After a prayer to the bishop of Parma, a finding would have been made in the marked place and the sarcophagus with an inscription would have been found. The people were in the church of San Dalmazio and informed on the finding would have gone towards San Donnino’s church, but because of the age and the high weight of the people the wooden bridge broke down with all those people.
By intercession of San Donnino nobody was injured, neither a pregnant woman.

.....................................................

IXth century- While Charlemagne was going to Rome to meet the Pope, passing through Fidenza "Borgo ubi Ecclesia in honore eiusdem Sancti haedificata fuerat, sed per tyramnos et inimicos Sanctae Ecclesiae totaliter erat dextructa",his horse would have suddenly stopped without going on.An Angel would have appeared to the astonished king and revealed the treasure buried underneath. He made the ground dug and found the relics of the martyr "magnam Ecclesiam iussit fabricare".
